Louis J. Bruner


Private Louis J. Bruner was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Bruner received the countrys highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action at Walkers Ford in Tennessee onDecember 1863. He was honored with the award onMarch 1896.

Bruner was born in Monroe County, Indiana onOctober 1834 and enlisted into the 5th Indiana Cavalry at Clifty Brumer in Indiana. He died onJanuary 1912 and his remains are interred at the Green Park Cemetery in Indiana.
